What a Year! Let’s Make 2012 EVEN BETTER!

Dear AHC Friends,

Can you believe it’s been a year since we began the miracle journey that started with the Pepsi Refresh and has built such wonderful momentum towards getting to the cure for AHC?

What a transformation & what excitement has gone on since.  We are in the analysis phase from the Genome project, and the preliminary results look “promising”.   We have other research groups looking to collaborate with Utah & spur us along in developing treatments for the  physical, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of AHC, as well as gunning for the cure!

To that end though, it is time to really shout from the roof tops like we’ve never done before.

*We were going to roll out a big campaign to commemorate Pepsi Refresh, but we want to make it HUGELY successful, so we are taking a little extra time to be sure we get all our ducks in a row.  How about helping us make it the big success we know it can be? Email me jeff@ahckids.org  to pitch in (ask your friends also) Our goal is to have a HUGE launch of this campaign in conjunction with Rare Disease Day 2/29/12, with pre-launch 2/1 (which means we need to get some logistics rolling in December).

*We have a goal of 10 walks across the country in 2012 (hopefully all in September to make it AHC Awareness month) We have available detailed timelines ,  step by step instructions & planning documents, as well as a mentoring team ready to make you successful.  Again, email me jeff@ahckids.org to participate& get the docs (but I’ll be reaching out to some folks and holding a call the week after Thanksgiving)

*We will leverage Charity Mania’s fundraising sweepstakes mechanism to celebrate our 1 yr Pepsi Refresh Victory Anniversary, selling tickets for the football, college basketball, and possibly NASCAR sweepstakes.  Mollie Erpenbeck (mollie@ahckids.org) is heading up the hoops one, and Paul Hodes (find him on Facebook or email me) the football one.  This should be a fun easy way to get a number of people to support the AHC Foundation, so we tap into the prime giving season.  Please contact them to participate.

*Another great idea- consider asking your friends if they would consider making donations to the Foundation in someone’s name instead of buying them a gift.  We have a beautifully designed certificate (which you can download in the files section in the Yahoo! group, or email me to get) that you can give them to use.

With all the wonderful research that is proposed to happen in 2012, we could potentially see some great strides made in AHC.  Of course, it all costs money.  Significant money.  In fact, we really need to raise $1,000,000 in 2012.  Impossible you say?  Well, that’s what many thought about the Pepsi Refresh.

WE WILL DO THIS!

How?

The points above will get us there (or at least very close) IF WE ALL WORK TOGETHER!   I know we all have extreme struggles with a child or adult living with AHC (and possibly other complications, like Matthew does) and time is limited.  but we all can find some friends to help us.   Now we are certainly NOT going to pressure anyone into doing anything. but we do want to encourage you to renew your hope for the future, and join us on making a difference for our AHC kids & adults by doing what you can see we all make this goal!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Yours in Service,

Jeff Wuchich
